The fiction of The Giver takes place in a blank, emotionless, sc pop out world where people go on about their lives characterise solely to the community. Jonas, a peculiar boy is assigned to be the next Receiver of Memories, a prestigous position within the society. When he meets up with the one who is to train him, he finds a weak, rare man. Jonas and so escapes the city with Gabriel, an infant whom he became attached to during the weeks of his training. Jonas and Gabriel give way the heat and cold during their trek in hopes of reaching Elsewhere, a mysterious place far away from the community. Jonas then finds a bobsled on top of a mountain of carbon paper and climbs aboard with Gabriel. As they slide down the hill, Jonas can cast lights in the distance and they sound of music, a first for him.
